And than I saw him with the circular saw. How easily he cut the collected tree trunks and branches. Seems so effortless, when there is electricity. A big pile for the next couple weeks built up fast. A pile to keep us warm in this wintry Croatia. There is real weather here, brr, strong winds are often making us stay rather inside. But with a well fed fireplace it’s not so bad at all. Germany seems much more freezing.

Sometimes my beloved wood chopper swings the ax, what for me seems more primordial and more like wilderness. But need strength. Anyhow – there are obviously many ways to cut wood! I am more the “jumper” – me with the ax, naa, that’s barely working. Either I can not hit the same spot a second time or I am simply not strong enough. And a saw, naaa, I don’t dare that… So when I (pretend to) help, I am taking thinner branches and make them break under my weight.

That was my way in the woods the other day. We often detect dead trees along the road – and when all our firewood is burned, the day has come to go back. Under pressure (having a cold kitchen) collecting is by the way much more effective. But my jumping on branches was not sooo successful this time… Ryan on the other hand started with the ax and continued to do it my way to finish the trunk.

We were now pondering if a bird breeding station of woodpeckers could be a solution, take the flock out and let them do there natural job, hehe. Or maybe we will just end up buying a chainsaw when the winter lasts. But than no birds, that would end up in a massacre…
